Lily to the Rescue

by W. Bruce Cameron

Do you like books that keep you on the edge of your seat? Do you like books that you never want to put down? Or do you like books that are full of adventure? If so, I would recommend the book, Lily to the rescue.

Lily to the rescue is about a dog who wants to help other animals with her owner, Maggie-Rose. Maggie Rose and her parents run a pet shelter that helps animals in need. Maggie-Rose and her trustworthy dog, Lily, hope to be just like the parents and hope to someday work in a pet shelter themselves. When Lily and Maggie-Rose meet a crow with a broken wing, they take it to the shelter. They find that they panic and don’t know what to do when animals get hurt, so they ask themselves if they're actually ready to help animals in need.

The first reason I would recommend this book is because every chapter gets more exciting and suspenseful. At the end of the book, everything is revealed. The next reason I would recommend the book is that it has animals helping each other. I think the book breaks stereotypes about dogs and cats not getting along. Another reason I like the book is because it shows how the dog thinks about humans. For example, while Maggie-Rose and her family were having a serious discussion at dinner, the narrator showed Lily wondering to herself when they would throw a piece of bread into her mouth. I think this shows how little Lily knows about when it’s the right time to be asking for food. It is super funny how Lily always is thinking about food at the wrong time.

If any of this sounds interesting, you should read the book.
